In today’s rapidly advancing medical technology landscape, excimer lasers—作为一种 highly precise medical tool—are playing an increasingly important role in ophthalmic refractive surgery and dermatological cosmetic treatments. Yueyang Kaimite Electronic Special Rare Gas Co., Ltd., as a key gas supplier in this field, provides the core working medium for medical laser devices.

Deeply rooted in the field of electronic specialty gases, serving the medical and healthcare industry.

Yueyang Kaimite Electronic Special Rare Gas Co., Ltd. was established in 2018 and is located in Qilishan, Yueyanglou District, Yueyang City, Hunan Province. With a registered capital of 80 million yuan, the company is dedicated to the research, development, and production of electronic specialty gases. Relying on the industrial layout and technological expertise of its shareholders, the company employs advanced technologies and equipment such as cryogenic distillation and physicochemical adsorption to produce ultra-high‑purity gases and multi‑component laser gas mixtures that are urgently needed in fields including semiconductors, display panels, aerospace, and medical applications.

The company’s investment in an electronic specialty gas project plans to build 25 production and processing units for electronic specialty gases and mixed gases. The first phase of the project has already completed construction of 12 production and auxiliary units, with a product portfolio that covers high‑purity gases such as neon, helium, krypton, and xenon, as well as hydrogen chloride‑based laser mixed gases and fluorine‑based molecular laser mixed gases.

Core Product: Excimer Laser Gases

Excimer lasers refer to lasers generated by excited dimers, with the active medium primarily consisting of compounds formed by inert gases and halogen elements. The excimer laser gases produced by Yueyang Kaimite Electronic Special Rare Gas Co., Ltd. mainly include:

ArF Excimer Laser (193 nm): An ultraviolet, cold laser with a wavelength of 193 nm, generated by a mixture of argon (Ar) and fluorine (F₂).

XeCl Excimer Laser (308 nm): An ultraviolet laser with a wavelength of 308 nm, generated by a mixture of xenon (Xe) and chlorine gas (Cl₂).

Ophthalmic Applications: ArF Excimer Laser and Refractive Surgery

In the field of ophthalmic medicine, ArF excimer laser (193 nm) is currently the core technological approach for corneal refractive surgery. This laser possesses unique optical characteristics: it is an ultraviolet, cold laser with relatively high photon energy. When interacting with biological tissues, it relies not on thermal effects but on photochemical effects, directly breaking the chemical bonds within biological tissues and causing the molecular vaporization of tissue cells.

When treating refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism), each pulse of an ArF excimer laser can ablate approximately 0.2 micrometers of corneal tissue, achieving cutting precision at the micrometer level. Due to the laser’s short wavelength (193 nm), its penetration into the cornea is virtually zero, meaning it does not damage other intraocular tissues. At the same time, the laser’s short pulse width (10–20 ns) classifies it as a cold laser, resulting in minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissues (<0.30 micrometers) and ensuring the safety of the procedure.

Since the concept of using excimer laser surgery to treat myopia was first proposed in the 1980s, after decades of clinical validation, excimer laser refractive surgery has become a widely adopted method for vision correction around the globe. The U.S. FDA officially approved PRK surgery in 1995, and subsequently approved various other procedures, including LASIK. China first began performing this technology in 1993.

Dermatological Applications: XeCl Excimer Laser in the Treatment of Vitiligo

In the field of dermatology, the XeCl excimer laser (308 nm) is an important tool for treating skin diseases such as vitiligo. The 308 nm excimer laser is generated using xenon chloride (XeCl) as the gain medium; its wavelength is similar to that of narrowband mid‑UV (NB‑UVB), but its energy is 5–10 times greater and it acts selectively on the affected areas of the skin.

The primary mechanisms underlying 308nm excimer laser therapy for vitiligo include: inducing apoptosis of pathologic T cells (since vitiligo is caused by T cells destroying melanocytes in the skin), stimulating the proliferation of residual melanocytes, and promoting melanocytes to synthesize greater amounts of melanin. Research has shown that 308nm is an optimal wavelength for inducing apoptosis of pathologic T cells within vitiligo lesions.

This laser can also be used to treat skin diseases associated with T lymphocytes, such as psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and alopecia areata. In 2000, the U.S. FDA approved the 308 nm excimer laser for use in dermatological treatments; in 2005, this technology was certified by the China Food and Drug Administration and subsequently entered the Chinese market.

Obtain international certification and have product quality recognized.

In September 2021, Yueyang Kaimite Electronic Special Rare Gas Co., Ltd. received a test confirmation letter from Coherent Germany, a U.S.-based company. The 193nm laser gas mixture produced by the company for use in ExciStar lasers had successfully passed their testing. This test result attested to the high quality of the company’s excimer laser gas products, as well as its comprehensive capabilities in areas such as cylinder inner-wall treatment for electronic specialty gases, multi‑component gas blending at the ppm level containing fluorine, and gas analysis.

In May 2025, Yueyang Kaimite Electronic Special Rare Gas Co., Ltd. once again received a Qualified Supplier Certification Letter from GIGAPHOTON Co., Ltd. of Japan, officially securing its qualification as a supplier for lithography gases (Kr/Ne, Ar/Ne/Xe). The endorsement from these leading international laser equipment manufacturers underscores the company’s production capabilities and product quality in the field of excimer laser gases.

From Gases to Applications: Supporting the Advancement of Medical Technology

The applications of excimer lasers in the medical field continue to expand. In addition to refractive eye surgery and vitiligo treatment, 308nm excimer lasers can also be used in minimally invasive procedures such as interventional thrombolysis and the treatment of varicose veins. With breakthroughs in domestically produced laser technology and declining costs for laser medical devices, the laser medical market is steadily growing, and it is poised to enter a new phase of development in the future.

Yueyang Kaimite Electronic Special Rare Gases Co., Ltd. will continue to deepen its expertise in the field of electronic specialty gases, providing reliable products and technical services to deliver stable gas support for medical laser equipment and contributing to the high‑quality development of the healthcare industry.
